Chattanooga FC Women Set To Host Decatur FC Sunday

  • Saturday, June 22, 2024

Chattanooga FC Women will make a quick turnaround after a Friday night away loss with a home game versus Decatur FC on Sunday, June 23 at 6:00 p.m. ET.

The Sky Blues will then have two more road matches to close out the 2024 season, at Nashville Wolves on Saturday, June 29th at 6:00 p.m. ET and at Atlanta Fire United on Saturday, July 6th at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Head Coach Tom Halsall previewed the matchup with Decatur FC.

"We are looking to go out with a bang," said Halsall.

"It's our final home game, so we want to give our fans something to really cheer about. We want to get at least one win at home this year, and we're looking to do that tomorrow. We're going to play with an extremely high intensity. We want to be aggressive; we've got nothing to lose. We believe that we can win. We've had a rough season, but that doesn't mean that will be the final story and chapter. We have an opportunity to change things and finish the season on a high.

"It's about doing the simple things well, having confidence in our touches and passes and movement, getting strikes off at a goal, following up on shots, and just giving our heart and soul into it and putting in a performaane the club can be proud of. We've fought hard this season, and we've still got room to grow. Things don't just happen right away; it takes time. We are enjoying the process, even though it's hard. There's been some extremely tough moments, but the players have persevered. We're looking to continue that mindset into tomorrow. We're excited and ready."

Decatur FC sit in fifth place in its inaugural season in the WPSL. With five games played, Decatur FC have 10 points with three wins, one draw, one loss and an impressive +15 goal differential.

The club's wins have come against Atlanta Fire (5-0), Nashville Wolves (6-0), FC Birmingham (5-0), with a loss against 865 Alliance (1-2) and a draw against Georgia Impact (0-0).

Decatur’s top player is forward Becky Contreras, an Auburn University player and the tied-third top goal scorer in the conference with four goals. Emma Chapman is second in the conference in assists, with three.
