Ron Frere of Hixson Tennessee went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 21, 2024.

He was born in Washington, DC on April 17, 1949, and grew up in nearby Annandale, Va. After graduating high school, he received a full football scholarship to the University of Tennessee and earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration in 1973, and Master’s in 1975.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas and Hilda Frere of Annandale, Va., and sister Cathy Frere Morgan of Outer Banks, N.C.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Melanie Cunningham, Frere; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Bryan Arrington; son and daughter-in-law, Ron Frere, Jr. and Rose Frere.

He leaves behind five wonderful grandchildren, James and Jacob Arrington of Hixson, Tn., and Ronnie, Joshua and Kate Frere of Marietta, Ga.

Ron is also survived by his identical twin, Robert Frere, and wife, Marlene of Hampton, Va.; brothers-in-law, Ronald and wife Sharon Cunningham and Sanford A. Cunningham, III of Chattanooga; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was employed and retired from TVA procurement after 33 years of service. He was a member of Soddy Daisy First Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga funeral home.

A celebration of life service will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Johns and Allen Nix officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Soddy Daisy First Baptist Church, 10185 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.
