Jill Black Endorsed By ChangeTN

  • Monday, June 24, 2024

Hamilton County School Board Member Jill Black (D-Lookout Mountain) has been endorsed by ChangeTN, which she said is "a forward-thinking advocacy group promoting candidates for local office who are passionate about moving municipalities forward."

Ms. Black was selected for ChangeTN’s endorsement "for her strong stances on increasing funding for public schools, standing up to district-issued blanket book bans, supporting all students regardless of race, ethnic background, or orientation."

Ms. Black said, “I ran for school board in 2022 to serve our students, parents, and teachers and create the kind of community I want my kids to live in. I watched as my young children spoke out against other people’s parents trying to tell my kids what they can or cannot read. Today, there are attempts statewide, and here locally, to place guns inside of classrooms and to use our tax dollars to fund private schools. I believe there is no more critical role than the adults who are charged to speak up for our kids - that’s why I’m asking for your vote again on Aug. 1.
