International Brotherhood Of Police Officers Local #673 Endorses Patsy Hazlewood

  • Friday, July 12, 2024

The International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local #673 on Friday officially endorsed State Rep. Patsy Hazlewood in her re-election campaign for the District 27 seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives. This endorsement follows other public safety endorsements Rep. Hazlewood has received from current Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp, Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett and retired Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond.

“Patsy Hazlewood’s track record in the Tennessee General Assembly speaks volumes about her commitment to public safety,” said Joseph Ogg, president of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 673 and law enforcement officer with the Chattanooga Police Department.  “The policies and initiatives she has championed – from accelerating the processing of sexual assault kits to securing significant budget increases for the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security – demonstrate a deep understanding of the resources and support necessary for law enforcement to effectively carry out their duties.

“The legislation she has sponsored, such as the Back The Blue Act and the Chris Wright Act, has significantly strengthened protections for law enforcement officers and ensured that repeat offenders face appropriate consequences. Her leadership in passing the Protect Tennessee Minors Act of 2024 and advocacy for Marsy’s Law highlight her dedication to safeguarding the well-being of all Tennesseans, especially children and victims of violence. These legislative accomplishments underscore her commitment to creating a safe and prosperous environment for everyone.”

“I am humbled, grateful and proud to receive the endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers,” said Rep. Hazlewood. “These brave men and women in blue know my conservative record, and I will continue to work with them and the broader law enforcement community to pass legislation that empowers law enforcement officers and helps them to battle illegal immigration, keep criminals off our streets and make our communities safer.”

The IBPO Local #673 represents nearly 500 law enforcement professionals, serving multiple agencies within Hamilton County and the surrounding areas.

The Republican Primary election for the District 27 State House will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1. Early voting began Thursday and will continue through Saturday, July 27. To learn more about Rep.
