Former Boyd Buchanan soccer standout Hayes Wood is using his final year of soccer eligibility at the University of Virginia.
In search of their eighth national soccer championship, the Virginia Cavaliers have recruited a large group of transfers who will bring years of valuable college experience with them.
Hayes Wood, who chose Virginia to complete his last year of soccer eligibility, transferred from Lipscomb.
Wood was part of a Lipscomb team that made three consecutive trips to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.
He scored 21 goals and 12 assists in four seasons with the Bisons. He was a three-time All-ASUN Conference selection and a two-time ASUN Tournament MVP.
Wood's soccer career began at Boyd-Buchanan, where in middle school he scored 94 goals and holds the HS record for goals scored for the Bucs at 93 and had 79 assists. He played HS soccer for five years for the Bucs (8th-12th).
