Eugene Dale “Johnny” Farley, age 79, born January 6, 1945, passed away August 11, 2024 at his Chattanooga home after a battle with lung cancer.

Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terry Lynette Picklesimer Farley.

He is survived by his son Joshua Dale (Ashley) Farley of Chattanooga and his much-loved granddaughter Avalynn. Also surviving are brothers and sisters Glenda Christian, Jerry (Billie) Farley, Peggy Murrell and Rodger (Linda) Farley. Johnny was also preceded by his parents Eugene B. and Grace L. Farley of Dunlap and Rossville.

Johnny was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked 40+ years as a skilled crane operator (member of IUOE), with one of the highlights of his career being setting the glass structure in the towering Tennessee Aquarium. He retired from Steve Sterchi Steel Erections Group.

He was an animal lover - being a push over for all including the birds and wildlife. Notable were Purvis the Persian, three German shepherds, two dachshunds and his latest conquest, a pit bull named Lola. He enjoyed NASCAR, going to local car events of all kinds and on occasion going to near-by casinos with Lynn. He was totally devoted to his family supporting Joshua’s teams as coach for years in Little League baseball and later supporting him in his Motor Cross events.

Cremation has been chosen and arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Center of Chattanooga.

Funeral services are planned for a later date.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their love and care for Johnny.
