The Tennessee Community College Athletic Association recently recognized Cleveland State Community College athletes for the L.Quentin Lane Academic Achievement Award for the 2023-24 academic year.
To qualify for the academic achievements freshman and sophomore student - athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 with a minimum of 24 credit hours passed for the academic year.
Cleveland State graduating athletes that received the distinguished L. Quentin Lane Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence were Kristen Fowler for softball and Mackenzie Bernier for women's basketball.
Criteria for this award are the highest academic grade point average for a graduating athlete in their particular sport.
Other Cleveland State athletes who were recognized on the L. Quentin Lane Academic Achievement Award Diamond Team for receiving a 4.0 grade point average for the year were;
Mackenzie Bernier women's basketball, Kristen Fowler softball, Freshman Julius King, men's basketball, Dylan Owens and Ben Sompayrac baseball.
Student athletes that are recognized for the L. Quentin Lane Academic Achievement Award First Team were: Alyssa Cate, Amanda Hatfield, Samantha Daniels and Ella Johnson members of the volleyball team. Women's basketball recipients included sophomores Jordan McCullough and Zoe Staniszewski. Softball team members included: Daelynn Cochran, Maley Ingram, Ava Layne, Carissa Montgomery, Madeline O'Quinn, Kendyl Phillips, Katie Weaver and Morgan Willingham.
Male athletes included men's basketball players Caleb Chapman, Kameron Clark, and Duvall Price, men's golfers Owen Kreuger and Reese McFatter. Baseball team players recognized included; Jacob Cooper, Kain Collins, Brycen Denton, Brayden Evans, Harrison Garrett, Evan Goins, Brock Harvey, Nick Iezzi, Andrew Kribbs, Ryan Langford, Ben Norton, Riley Orr, Hunter Ryan and Cannon Stafford.
"Cleveland State congratulates these individuals on their academic success," stated Athletic Director Mike Policastro. "Their dedication and hard work is reflected not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom."
