Deborah “Debbie” Daugherty
Deborah “Debbie” Daugherty, 71, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 16, 2024, and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
She was born in Chattanooga on May 20, 1953, to parents, Charles DeForest and Wilda Rhea Ewton Cummings.
Debbie was a graduate of Kirkman High School class of 1971 and retired from Astec with 32 years of service in their accounting department. She is a member of Tyner Church of Christ.
She was known for her love of costume jewelry and buying lots of it. Debbie enjoyed trips to the beach and the lake, dinners out and spending lots of time with her family. She was known to them as “Nana”. Her family shared that she was a mom with a huge heart, very loving and was loved by all who knew her, too. She was also a very forgiving person.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles DeForest and Wilda Ewton Cummings; grandmother, Beatrice Sherill; brother, Mark DeForest Cummings; and a granddaughter, Miranda Pace.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Melody (Chris) Smith, Michael (Jennifer) Clark; grandchildren, Marcus (Kayla) Pace, Mika (Emily) Clark, Mason Daugherty, Madalane Clark, and Mattix Childs; great grandchildren, Maclain “Charlie” Pace, Mattie Rhea Pace, Sutton Pace, Sammie Pace, Henley Pace and Jayce Zearfus; God granddaughters, Jordan and Sophia Venable; ex-husband, Rodney Daugherty; friend and father of their children, James Michael Clark, Sr.; best friend and caregiver, Ann Shadwick; also several nieces, cousins and other extended family members.

A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 3 p.m. until the funeral hour of 6 p.m.
