The Tennessee Occupant Protection Center and the Tennessee Highway Safety Office will honor Lindsay Smith, BSN, RN, Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention & Outreach coordinator, and Children’s Hospital at Erlanger with the Dr. Robert Sanders Leadership and Service Award on Wednesday.
This award recognizes extraordinary advocacy for child passenger safety, leadership, dedication and innovation in injury prevention. The event will also raise awareness for Child Passenger Safety Week (Sept.
16–22), a time dedicated to educating families about proper child passenger safety.
Officials said, "Lindsay Smith and the pediatric trauma and injury prevention team at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger have played a critical role in reducing child passenger injuries and fatalities through education and community partnerships. Their work includes injury prevention programs and car seat check-up events, all designed to keep children safe in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas.
"The Dr. Robert Sanders Leadership and Service Award recognizes individuals or teams that demonstrate leadership and dedication to child passenger safety and make a long-term, positive impact on their communities. This year, Children’s Hospital at Erlanger is being recognized for its outstanding commitment to keeping kids safe through its Safe and Sound program and other injury prevention efforts."
