Several members of the Lakeside Elementary School All-Stars 1969 Dixie Youth Baseball World Series Championship Team honored local baseball legend Michael Moore at Standifer Place Health Facility.

The Championship Team honored Mr. Moore by designating him a “Honorary Member” of their 1969  Dixie Youth Baseball World Series Championship Team during a visit on Labor Day by some of the team players. Michael became the first honorary member of this team in their 55 years of existence, with most agreeing the honor was overdue.

Michael played a few years at Lakeside before moving to play at East Brainerd Dixie Youth League. He later pitched at Tyner Jr. High, McCallie High and Cleveland State College, established himself as one of Chattanooga’s most feared baseball pitchers. Anyone playing baseball against Michael Moore knew the lefty was probably going to strike them out.
