Student Phones Are Needed In The Event Of A School Shooting - And Response

  • Thursday, September 5, 2024

The school shooting in Winder, Ga., with four dead should prove to everyone not to take away the students' phones.

The students can quickly call in what has and is happening.

For information purposes, Apalachee High School does allow students to have cell phones. This created a problem, though. The school is on a two way street, one lane each way and so many parents drove that they clogged the road making some mothers to walk three miles to get to the school and made getting emergency equipment to the location difficult.

I went to school in Chattanooga for 12 years and there were no cell phones. There was not even a pay phone in the hall. Cell phones are the origin of at least two problems. First, they are used to bully other students and second, they are used to cheat on exams. Students do not need to talk to their mommies while in school in most cases.

Apalachee High School is only 30 minutes away from my home.
