At the Thursday morning meeting of the Chattanooga Beer Board a new business that is actually “an adult game room” was given a consumer beer permit. Flat Out Sim Racing, 3902 Hixson Pike has six full motion machines to simulate car racing as well as one flight simulator. This is Tennessee’s first racing simulator lounge.
A customer has the choice of driving 140 cars and can choose from 150 racetracks around the world. The business can be booked for private events such as birthday parties or by car clubs. With the new beer license, beer can be sold along with pre-packaged food.
Hours of operation are from noon until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon until 10 p.m. on Friday and is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 10 .m. and from 1 until 8 p.m. on Sundays.
The board was unable to hear a beer violation that occurred at The Dream, 2308 Glass Street on Dec. 15. New procedures that the city has implemented regarding violations of the city’s beer code specifies that an administrative hearing officer will hear violations and will make a finding, which is just a recommendation. If the business does not agree, they can have the case brought to the Chattanooga Beer Board, which can sustain the hearing officer’s decision or not. After that, if the business disagrees with the beer board’s opinion, it can be appealed to Chancery Court.
The hold-up in hearing the case against The Dream was due to the fact that the city has not yet appointed a hearing officer. The violation will come before the beer board again at the Feb. 6 meeting.
