Three Lee University Men’s Track & Field athletes claimed NCAA Division II Provisional marks Friday and Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational. The indoor track & field meet was held at the David Williams II Recreational & Wellness Center on the campus of Vanderbilt University.
Edimo Ninteretse and Jon Fielding Stogner met the standard of the 3000-meter Run of 8:15.39. Ninteretse placed second with a time of 8:05.74 and Stogner’s time of 8:10.46 was good for sixth. Pierre Chauveau and Owen Pearce joined them in the event.
Chauveau crossed the line in 10th at 8:17.23, while Pearce (8:34.16) was 36th.
Ryan Lovelace was fifth in the Mile with a time of 4:03.97 to beat the provisional qualifying time of 4:08.81. Caleb Guthery’s 23rd-place time of 4:11.37 just missed the standard. Parker Campbell (4:15.48) was 30th and Stephen Clark finished 35th (4:19.23).
Five Flames took on the 800-meter Run. Evan Moore led the way with a time of 1:52.52 for 14th position. Clark was 34th (1:56.64) and Campbell finished 38th (1:57.28). Lovelace was 50th with a time of 2:00.11 and Guthery placed 53rd (2:02.44).
Xian Campbell, Aaron Himes and Elijah Moran all finished in the top 12 of the 5000-meter Run. Campbell (14:43.44) was fourth, Himes placed seventh (14:49.84) and Moran was 12th (14:58.92).
Aiden Shaw completed the 60-meter Dash in 7.11 seconds for 34th and Cooper Giddens (7.28) was 43rd. Shaw also finished 16th (22.17) in the 200-meter Dash. Nokia Masengu was 18th at 22.35 seconds, Markel Kelly (23.30) placed 38th and Isaac Iosia was right behind in 39th (23.30). Masengu recorded a time of 49.78 seconds to post a 29th-place finish in the 400-meter Dash.
Iosia stopped the clock at 8.59 seconds to place 27th in the 60-meter Hurdles. Kelly was 28th (8.79) and Cameron Stine finished 30th (8.90).
Jacob Salters covered 6.18 meters to finish 20th in the unseeded Long Jump. Carter Duncan was 17th in the Shot Put Open with a throw of 11.97 meters. In the Weight Throw Open, Carrington Tate finished 19th with a mark of 13.80 meters.
The Flames are set to return to action with two meets the first two days of February. Lee is set to compete in Boston on February 1 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, followed by the South Alabama Indoor Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, on February 2.
