Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, we have a new president. The 47th president of the United States Mr. Donald Trump. Some will not be so accepting of this transfer but my hope is that everyone will remain peaceful.
My wish for the upcoming four years is that we learn to come together as Americans. We must stop the hate; it serves no purpose within our lives. Some are spreading hate speech and taking it to a higher level within the realms of social media. Yes, we have the freedom of speech, but we are expected to use it wisely, that is one of the reasons why we have this freedom.
We want to teach our kids to speak up and to take a stand when something seems wrong, but we want them to be respectful of others when doing so, so we should expect the same from ourselves. I always taught my kids that they have the right to disagree, but they will never get their voice heard by screaming and being ugly. We are being laughed at across the world and other countries are amused by our behavior, and the ignorance. Heck I am amused at times.
It is a beautiful thing when you can control the thoughts that spend time in your mind. Do you let the bad thoughts hang out too long or do you push them away. When we let things go when the time is right then we welcome new and sometimes amazing things to come into our lives and that is what we must be hopeful for., after all without hope what is the point.
There will always be those that are against and those that are in favor but we can remain peaceful and respectful. Making America great again or simply making America great depends on all of us.
Trump cannot do it alone regardless of your faith in him, he is a mere man. What some think is a good president, others do not.
I have faith in our ability to do better and you should as well, but it must start with you and me. You do not have to like Trump but regardless he is now our 47th President and you should all support him. We should all come together as Americans. I want peace in America and I want peace in the world.
On this day let us not forget that Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, is also Martin Luther Kind Jr Day. Just as Dr. King had a dream, we all have a dream to be free of hate and all men, women and children will be treated equally, no matter what their skin color is, or religious beliefs or political beliefs. Today it seems like we have a different kind of hate. Will we never be able to enjoy a world free of hate. Because others could not see the dream that Martin Luther King had they showed their hatred towards him, and then they acted on it. Just because you do not see a man's vision through his eyes does not give you the right to end his vision.
"Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of the spirit. You can not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him," Dr Martin Matin Luther King Jr.
