James “Jimmy” Andrew Massengale, Jr., passed away on January 8, 2025, at the age of 81.

He was the widower of Betty Ann Massengale, after 59 years of marriage.

Jimmy was the son of Lula “Lou” and James “Jim” A Massengale, Sr. He was born and raised in Suck Creek, Tn.

He was of Christian faith and rejoiced in the promise of eternal life. He will be remembered for his hard working, gentle nature, and subtle sense of humor. He enjoyed canoeing the river, hunting arrowheads, eagle watching, and the study of Native American history. He also had a strong belief in preserving nature and was a long time supporter and friend of the Tennessee River Gorge Trust.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister Betty Jo Headrick, and son in law Calvin Francis.

Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Terri (Steve) and Jerri Francis; his grandchildren, Laci (Chris), Nathan, Joshua, and Keeli (Tron); his great grandchildren, Chase, Ruby (Brendan), Leksi (Trevor), Branson, Lucas, Colton, Cali, Molli, Zoei and Ananias; his great-great grandchildren, Indi, Thorin, Leif, Laci and baby Hilton on the way and several nieces and nephews.

His final wishes were for his ashes to be joined with those of his cherished wife and they will remain eternal residents of their beloved home on the river.

The family will have a private celebration of life, with no services to be held.
