The Chattanooga Police Department donated a repurposed Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the Cohutta Police Department, providing support to the agency following a fire in December 2022 that destroyed nearly all of their equipment.

The motorcycle will be repurposed to support Cohutta's community policing and safety education programs. The donation will also help Cohutta PD access new funding opportunities, enhancing their ability to serve the citizens of Cohutta, officials said.

“This donation from the Chattanooga Police Department is a huge gift for us,” said Cohutta Police Lt.
Ryan Fowler. “This bike will allow us to apply for grants through the State of Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety for safety education, outreach efforts and community policing.”

In addition to the motorcycle, CPD had previously donated ballistic vests to aid Cohutta's officers in their daily duties.

“The CPD Traffic Unit is happy to help Cohutta rebuild their department however we can,” said CPD Sgt. Tommy Seiter. “We're glad this one motorcycle can make a big impact for them in engaging with and educating their community members.”

"CPD would like to thank the Chattanooga City Council for approving the donation and for their continued support of local law enforcement agencies in times of need," officials said.
