Stephen James Valadez
Stephen James Valadez, 44, of Chattanooga, passed away at his residence on December 14, 2024.
Stephen graduated from McCallie School, and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in US History. An avid writer, he wrote for several periodicals including Transhumanist magazine, and enjoyed writing books in his free time. He spent his professional career supplementing his writing, until pivoting to finance in recent years. He was an astute decentralized finance investor, and sat on several boards for like minded professionals including Axion and Bomb Token. Stephen was also a beloved friend and conversationalist, a fixture of downtown Chattanooga who was never one to shy away from a good debate. A lover of political theory and discourse, he would liven up any dinner party or event he attended.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Stephen Kent Valadez.
He is survived by his mother, Dr. Dabney James, his brother, William Dabney (Ellen) Valadez as well as his beloved nephews, William (Liam) Lawrence Valadez, Henry James Valadez, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 144 Browns Ferry Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37419 on Sunday, Jan. 19, from 2-4 p.m.
