The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Chattanooga is hosting “Moments of Grace: A Memory Caregiver Summit” – a heartfelt event designed to empower caregivers with knowledge, encouragement and the tools they need to find peace of mind.
Officials said, "Caring for a loved one with dementia can be one of life’s most selfless and overwhelming journeys. From managing medications and behaviors to navigating emotional and legal challenges, many caregivers find themselves exhausted, uncertain and in need of support."
The seminar will take place on Saturday, July 19, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
at New Hope Presbyterian Church, at 7608 Shallowford Road, nextdoor to The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga.
The day will feature a luncheon, local vendors, giveaways and community fellowship with others facing the same situations.
Topics include:
- New dementia medications: Leqembi, Kisunla and Rexulti;
- Caregiver burnout and self-care;
- Finding grace in caregiving;
- Behavioral management strategies; and
- Legal and healthcare planning.

- 12:15 p.m. – Dub Ellis, LMSW: “What Matters Legally?”
- 12:45 p.m. – Beth Janney, RN, MBA, CRRN, CDP, CADDCT: “How Can I Manage or
Avoid Behaviors?”
- 1:30 p.m. – Amy Rains, ARNP: “How Does Parkinson’s Affect Dementia?”
- 2 p.m. – Tammy Barber, BS, BA: “How Do I Stay Positive and Renewed While Caring
for a Loved One?”
- 2:45 p.m. – Door prizes and closing prayer
Tickets are $20 and include lunch and a raffle ticket. T-shirts are also available for $20, with proceeds supporting the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to provide nursing scholarships and caregiver support.
Companion care will be provided on-site for loved ones with dementia during the event, so caregivers can participate with peace of mind.
