Bonnie Bell Alvey, 86, of Ooltewah, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2025.

She loved gardening, birds and spending time with her family. Bonnie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her home was a haven for many stray cats and dogs, which she never let go hungry. She was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and was a retired United States Postal Service employee.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Estelle Bell; her husband Charles "Sonny" Alvey; her daughter Phoebe Annette Alvey; and her sister Joyce Bell Wade.

She is survived by her children, Desiree Smith (Gary), Rod Alvey (Sharon), and Wendy Hamilton (Lee); brother, Warren Bell (Evangeline); grandchildren, Candice Gregory (John), Zach Smith (Molly), Erica Stewart (Blake), and Luke Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Sadie Gregory, Daisy Gregory, Hendon Smith, and Charlie Stewart.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ricky Kesley officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Gary Smith, Lee Hamilton, Zach Smith, Luke Hamilton, John Gregory and Blake Stewart.
