7 Lee Faculty Receive Tenure

Following the annual board meeting, the Lee University Board of Directors awarded tenure to seven faculty members, effective August 2025. The newly tenured faculty members are Drs. Amy Moody, Ashley Mulligan, Holly Perleoni, Stephanie Pope, Lorinda Roberts, Alex Sandoval and Justin Walker.

Dr. Moody is the chairperson for the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for Lee’s School of Nursing, where she also serves as an assistant professor. She teaches courses on nursing leadership and public health, while her primary area of interest is interdisciplinary collaboration. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Nebraska Methodist College, her Master of Science from the University of South Alabama, and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Mulligan, an assistant professor of English, joined Lee University’s faculty in 2019. She teaches courses ranging from Rhetoric and Composition and Western Literature to advanced literature seminars like Studies in Romanticism and The British Novel. Additionally, Dr. Mulligan co-leads a global engagement trip to England, sponsors the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society and the Bluestockings Club, and regularly mentors English majors through the McNair and Ledford research programs. She received her Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts from Pennsylvania State University as well as her Bachelor of Arts from Lee University.

Dr. Perleoni teaches marketing courses, including consumer behavior and brand development. She is the associate dean of the School of Business, the director of the Master of Business Administration program, and serves as an assistant professor of marketing. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society, and serves on the boards of the Christian Business Faculty Association and the Cleveland chapter of Junior Auxiliary. She received her Doctor of Business Administration from Anderson University and her Master of Business Administration and BS from Lee University.

Dr. Pope joined the Helen DeVos College of Education in 2019, where she serves as an assistant professor of elementary education. She teaches Introduction to the Teaching Profession, Early Childhood Methods, Early Childhood Foundations, Elementary Math Methods, and select courses at the master’s level. She received her Doctor of Education from Trevecca Nazarene University, her Master of Education from Lipscomb University, and her bachelor's degree in business administration from Freed-Hardeman University.

In addition to serving as vice president for student success, Dr. Roberts is an assistant professor of youth and family ministry. Her missions and outreach efforts include trips to Germany, France, Haiti, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Native American reservations, inner cities, and the Church of God Home for Children. Roberts received her Doctor of Educational Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, her MA from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, and her BS from Lee University, and she is an ordained minister in the Church of God.

Dr. Sandoval joined the Lee University faculty in 2010 after teaching in Georgia for nine years. He serves as an assistant professor of special education and is the chairperson for the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education. His area of emphasis is special education pre-service teacher preparation. Originally from Guatemala, his interests include cross-cultural teaching opportunities in Latin America for special education candidates and increasing disability awareness. He earned his PhD with a concentration in special education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, his MEd from the University of Missouri, and his undergraduate degree from Lee University.

Dr. Walker joined the School of Theology & Ministry faculty in 2019, where he serves as an assistant professor of Old Testament and Christian ministries. His research focuses on biblical poetry, ancient Near Eastern iconography, and Old Testament theology. He is the author of “The Power of Images: The Poetics of Violence in Lamentations 2 and Ancient Near Eastern Art” and is currently composing the “Lamentations” volume for the Old Testament Theology series with Cambridge University Press. He received his PhD, Master of Theology, and Master of Divinity from Emory University, along with his BA from Lee University.
