Advantage Funeral Home on McCallie Avenue was recognized Friday for its service to several veterans organizations in Chattanooga.
Captain Mickey McCamish presented the award during the monthly meeting of “Wreaths Across Chattanooga”. Captain McCamish said, “When COVID hit the city, I went to Funeral Home Manager Brad Wilkey and asked if he could help with a meeting place. He not only allowed us to use his facility, he gave us a large room where several veterans’ organizations could hold their monthly meetings.” The “veteran’s room” has flags representing all branches of the military and various military related memorabilia.
Captain McCamish said the “Veterans Room” is also being use to plan the upcoming Armed Forces Week activities, including the 76th annual parade on May 2.
Captain McCamish said, “Without Mr. Wilkey’s assistance it would have been very hard to accomplish our goals.”
Captain McCamish said, “Advantage Funeral Home has been very supportive of the recent Wreaths across Chattanooga campaign. Every bill has been paid and we’re raising money for the coming Christmas season.”
Mr. Wilkey said he appreciates the service of the veterans in our community and it was a great honor to receive this award.
