Lee Softball Drop Final Game of Series With Mississippi College

The Lee University softball team dropped the third game of the series to Mississippi College 13-3 on a rainy Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lady Flames fell to 16-12 overall and 4-10 in Gulf South Conference action.
 
MC started the game with a solo home run in the top of the first. Two batters later, MC added a second solo home run to lead it 2-0. Lee got one run back in the bottom of the first when Hailey Simco drove in Alexa Scalzo on a sacrifice fly.
 
MC made it 3-1 in the second using an error and two hits to score a run.
The Choctaws broke the game open in the third scoring five runs on four hits which was capped off by a grand slam by Bella Myers. In the bottom of the third, Lee got their second run after Ana Macha singled, Scalzo scored again on an error.
 
Mississippi College scored five more runs in the fifth on five hits to take a 13-2 lead. The Lady Flames got one more run in the bottom of the firth when Simco drove Javaria Smith home for the final score of 13-3.
 
MC outhit Lee 13-6 in the contest. Both teams also stranded seven base runners. Natalie Pruitt-Geesey picked up her second loss of the season as she threw two and two-third innings and gave up eight runs on seven hits. Layne Bailey threw one and two-third innings and gave up four runs on three hits. Madison Barnett ended the game giving up one run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning.
 
Scalzo and Macha each had two hits. Scalzo added two runs while Simco had two RBI.
 
The Lady Flames will go to Memphis, Tenn. on Friday, March 21 for a three-game series with Christian Brothers University.
