William “Danny” Prentice Colter, 93, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Danny was born in McRae, Ga., on July 2, 1931. He gave his heart to Jesus early in his life and enrolled at Lee College in the early 50s. There is where he met the love of his life, Gerry Head. They went on to be married for 60 plus years. During those years, they served as evangelist, pastor, and state office administrators with the Church of God. Danny continued his ministry even after suffering a stroke. He lived in an assisted living facility where he served as pastor to the residents until his death. He was preparing his sermon for Sunday when he passed away.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry Colter, his parents, and his brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Arnice Chaney; sisters-in-law, Faye Pharr and Shirley Green; brothers-in-law, Bill (Margaret) Head and Coy Butler; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

His family would like to thank the staff and care givers of American House, special thanks to Sherry NP, and Hearth Hospice for the care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ooltewah Church of God in Danny’s memory, 9320 Lee Hwy, Collegedale, Tn. 37363.

A visitation for Danny will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343. The funeral service will start at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. A committal will follow the service to Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153 Hixson, Tn. 37343.
