For the first time this spring, the Covenant College women's tennis team competed on their home court as Oglethorpe came up the mountain for a nonconference battle. Covenant brought its best game, winning all nine matches on the day to secure the 7-0 result.
In doubles, Lauren Carr and Zoe Giuntoli came through with a 6-3 win at the No. 1 position against Maddie Nolen and Taylor Glover. In the No. 2 slot, Katie Cummings and Christina English cruised to a 6-1 win over Grace Elsevier and Mia Geveke.
The Scots earned the doubles sweep as Caroline Tisdale and Estee Verdery picked upa 6-3 win over Karian Lopez and Apsana Rai in the No. 3 ranked match.
In singiles, Carr set the tone in the No. 1 slot, picking up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nolen.
In the No. 2 position, Verdery secured a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Giuntoli narrowly edged Elsevier in the first set 7-5, before dominating set two 6-0 to pick up a win in the No. 3 ranked match.
In the No. 4 slot, Cummings held strong for a 6-3, 6-3 win over Gveke. English had a strong performance, taking down Lopez 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 5 position. Ora Hall made her collegiate debut in the No. 6 ranked match, taking down Apsana 6-3, 6-1.
Covenant hosts No. 19 Sewanee on Friday at 4 p.m.
