Olivet Baptist Church Health/Nursing Ministry observed Purple Day - Epilepsy Awareness Day - last Saturday at the church. Dr. Cleopatra Thurman, vascular neurologist and Erlanger' s Stroke Program director, was the keynote speaker.

Purple Day was initiated in 2008 by a Cassidy Megan, an eight-year-old girl from Canada who has epilepsy. She wanted to raise awareness for people with epilepsy and help them see that they are not alone. She chose purple as the color for the awareness because of the lavender flower color.

Purple Day is an internationally recognized day of epilepsy awareness and support, it falls on the 26th of March every year.
