Covenant Softball Ends Season With Doubleheader Win Over Agnes Scott

The Covenant softball team had one last opportunity to play together as a team as it ended its season with a doubleheader at Agnes Scott. Covenant went out with a bang, run-ruling Agnes Scott in the first game before winning an exciting game later in the day. 

Game 1 Final: Covenant 12, Agnes Scott 0 In the first inning, Olivia Stefl delivered a 2-RBI single to put the Scots ahead early on. Isabella Duran and Gracie Lacle came through with RBI singles in the second inning which put Covenant up 4-0. 

In the fourth inning, Duran delivered a 2-RBI triple down the left-field line to put Covenant ahead 6-0.

Later on in the inning, Lacle had an RBI groundout that scored Duran from third base.

The Scots poured on five runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by 2-RBI base hits from Myla Still and Duran.

Charley Clark (5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 K) pitched a complete-game shutout to earn the win for Covenant in the circle. Duran (4-for-4, 3 R, 5 RBI) had a base hit in each at-bat to lead the Covenant offense. 
Covenant outhit Agnes Scott 12-3.

Agnes Scott committed two errors while Covenant had none. 

Game 2 Final: Covenant 8, Agnes Scott 4 Covenant jumped ahead again in the first inning as Ashlyn Gaines brought home Duran with an RBI single. Duran kept her hot bat going in the second inning with a 2-RBI single to put the Scots up 3-0. A couple of errors by Covenant allowed Agnes Scott to bring home two runs in the third inning. 

Kathleen Carpenter had an RBI single in the fifth inning to make it 4-2 Covenant.

Agnes Scott rallied in the sixth inning, scoring two runs on an RBI triple and an RBI single to tie the game.

The Scots scored four runs in the seventh inning to take back the lead, highlighted by RBI base hits from Lexi Tincknell, Carpenter, and Madison Taylor. 

Agnes Scott was retired in order in the bottom of the frame.

Covenant moves to 23-10 all-time against Agnes Scott.

Lauren Edgar (5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 2 HBP) threw five innings in the circle while Clark (2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER) closed the game to earn the win. Gaines (3-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 K) and Carpenter (3-for-4, 1 R, 2 RBI) each had three-hit games to lead the Covenant offense. 

Covenant outhit Agnes Scott 14-6.

Covenant had three errors while Agnes Scott had one.
