Singleton, Vanita Loueller

Had A Strong Work Ethic And Quiet Strength

  • Sunday, April 20, 2025
Vanita Loueller Singleton, 92, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the local hospital.

Vanita was born on March 13, 1933, in Bowie County, Texas, to the late Ode Wilburn and Gertrude Leo “Gertie” Duncan Caddenhead. Raised on a working farm, she came to know the value of hard work, the strength found in simplicity, and the beauty of a life lived close to the land. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong work ethic and a quiet strength that defined her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Harry Ivey Singleton, who passed on February 1, 2009, and by an infant son, Paul Wilburn Singleton. She was also the eldest of her siblings, all of whom she outlived: Margaret Rickman, Dorothy Jean Mitchell Kestler, Bernice Porier, Jo Murl Moore, Doris Ellen Steitler, Bonnie Sue Daffern, Earl Wayne Caddenhead, Sr., Arland Jessie Caddenhead, and William Carl Caddenhead.

A woman of deep faith, Vanita was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly for over 74 years. She carried herself with a meek and humble heart, always guided by her unwavering belief in Jesus Christ. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and a light to all who knew her.

Her greatest joy was her family. She poured love, wisdom, and grace into the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always placing their needs above her own. Her legacy is not only in the life she lived but in the family she so dearly cherished and nurtured.

She is survived by her loving children: daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Wells of Dalton, GA, Ivy and Lamar Quarles of Resaca, GA, and Melissa and James Owens of Chatsworth, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Estell Wayne and Dean Singleton of Dalton, GA, James E. and Judy Singleton of Chatsworth, GA, and Shawn Singleton of Resaca, GA. She is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Vanita Loueller Singleton will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Reverend Stoney Kiser and Reverend Jesse Bryson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Wilson, Rodney Singleton, Christian McDonald, Justin Singleton, Matt Rymer, and Clint Duke.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home beginning at 12 p.m. until the service hour.
