Alice "Faye" Brown
Alice "Faye" Brown was born on November 12, 1948, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and passed away peacefully in Atlanta, Georgia on April 15, 2025. She was 76.
Alice Faye was the beloved daughter of the late Percy Lee Williams, Sr., and Alice Williams. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Cleotis Brown, and her brother, Odeffie Williams.
She is lovingly survived by her children: her son, Anthony (Maretta Macon) Weaver and her daughter, Cleasha (Jerrell) Jenkins. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jawan White and Yara Jenkins, her brother, Percy (Minnie) Williams, Jr., and a host of extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
A proud graduate of Howard High School, Class of 1966, Alice Faye served as the alumni class treasurer, a role that reflected her dependable spirit and natural leadership. She went on to dedicate her professional life to education, retiring as a parent coordinator at Woodmore Elementary School. Her commitment to students and families spanned more than 40 years, leaving a legacy of compassion, patience, and dedication to learning and community.
She was a devoted member of St. Phillip Lutheran Church, where her faith continued to guide and uplift her. Her love for singing and listening to gospel music was a reflection of the deep spiritual roots that grounded her life and relationships.
Beyond her professional and spiritual life, Alice Faye had a flair for the finer things that brought her joy. She was known for her collection of Brahmin handbags, her love of shoe shopping, and the special delight she found in picking out gifts for her granddaughter, Yara. Her guilty pleasure? Enjoying the drama and laughs of reality TV shows, always with her signature wit.
Alice Faye was sassy, loving, and fiercely protective of her family. She had a generous heart and made everyone around her feel special. To know her was to be cared for — deeply, unapologetically, and unconditionally. She will be remembered for the warmth she gave, the strength she carried, and the love she poured into her family and friends.
Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
