Roger Fredric McGarrity
Roger Fredric McGarrity, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, May 16, 2025.
Roger was born in Tucson, Az. on Sept. 12, 1942, to the late Samuel M. McGarrity and Vera Jayne McGarrity, and from the age of five was a lifetime resident of Soddy Daisy. He gave his life to Jesus at the age of twelve and attended Soddy Elementary School, Soddy Daisy High School Class of 1960, and Tennessee Tech University.
From a very young age he was an avid fisherman and hunter. Enjoying the outside world of the nearby Soddy Lake and hunting on the family farm. He started his career working with his dad in the McGarrity Construction Company, beginning as a carpenter, and then onto job superintendent.
Later Roger enjoyed a long and successful career at T.U. Parks Construction Company of Chattanooga, as a project manager. He took pride in building many churches and schools in Hamilton County and in other counties throughout the area. At the top of his project lists, was the home he built with his sons for the family on McGarrity Hill.
As a faithful member of Dallas Bay Church, his greatest joy was serving as a door greeter. Always there, every Sunday morning, welcoming hundreds of people to the house of the Lord with a smile and sincere love.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda McRae McGarrity; his three fine sons and daughters-in-law’s, Andy and Teresa McGarrity of Cedar Grove, Tn., Cory and Aimee McGarrity of Soddy Daisy, and Jody McGarrity of Hixson; his wonderful grandchildren, Justin McGarrity, Dakota McGarrity, Cole McGarrity and Everly McGarrity; his two great-grandchildren, Mason McGarrity and Emma McGarrity; sister, Pat Conger of Soddy Daisy, brother, Sam McGarrity of Hixson, and cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.
