McCallie Advances, Boyd Buchanan Out In TSSAA State Soccer

The McCallie Blue Tornado boys soccer team crushed Division II-AA semifinal opponent Ensworth 5-1 Wednesday afternoon in a Division II-AA state semifinal in Murfreesboro.

McCallie scored four goals in the first 20 minutes of the match including the first goal just under 2 minutes into the match.

Ryan Rodriguez, Mikael Wallasvaara, Finley Arnold and Alejandro Dominguez all had first half goals for McCallie. Finley Arnold scored the last goal in the second half. Wallasvaara had three assists. Dominic Debellis and Ryan Rodriquez also had assists for McCallie.

McCallie keeper Will Neely had six saves. McCallie advances to play MBA in the state championship Thursday at 4 p.m. MBA beat Christian Brother 3-0 in their semifinal game.

The Bucs of Boyd Buchanan lost their semifinal match in a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to Knoxville Grace. 

Grace's Micah Stevens scored the game winner in the first overtime period assisted by Diego Dourado. Boyd Buchanan keeper Nathan Randolph record seven saves. 

Grace outshot Boyd Buchanan 22-5 according the the official stats.
