Don Adams, 88, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.

He was a native of Deer Lodge, Tn., and graduated from Sunbright High School. He served honorably in the United States Army and was a long-time member of Fairview Nazarene Church where he drove a church bus, served as Sunday School Superintendent and trustee, and was always available to lend a helping hand to those in need.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love is appearing.” II Timothy 4:6-8KJV

Don fought a good fight-He was a prayer warrior who battled daily for his family, his church, his community, and his world.

He finished his course-He was always working on at least four or six projects, making gifts for others, fixing things around the house, gardening, planting flowers, working on things for his children, then grandchildren, then great grandchildren, but he had no unfinished business. He was at peace with himself, with his family, and with his God.

Don kept the faith- He kept the faith daily in his prayers and devotions. He kept it faithfully in his church attendance, church service, and church giving. He kept it completely in his actions and his attitudes and his interactions with others. He also didn't just keep the faith, he shared it. He shared his faith in his words, his relationships, his priorities, his actions, his songs, his service to others, and in every moment of his daily life.

And on June 6, 2025, the Lord presented him with his crown.

Don was a brother to 12, an uncle to 71, a husband to 1, a father to 3, a papaw to 11 with their 8 spouses and eleven children, plus countless others impacted and included in his circle of love. He will forever be our dad, our papaw, the first man that we loved and the first that loved us unconditionally, and he will be forever missed.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Anna Adams; and 10 siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Loretta Adams; three children, Kent (Barbara) Adams, Michael Adams and Beth (Stan) Doerr; brother, Johnie Adams; sister, Faye Howard; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 71 nieces and nephews. Don had many special friends whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Nazarene Church, 2009 McFarland Ave., Rossville, Ga. 30741 with Dr. Hunter Cummings officiating.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
