Robert Winston Brown, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A man of unwavering devotion, Rob lived a life rooted in kindness, strength, and quiet resilience.

Born to Robert and Lawry Brown, his early life was spent living in several cities from Tennessee to California prior to the family settling in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he spent the majority of his youth. Prior to moving to Chattanooga in 1978, he graduated from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Fl., and earned a degree in Economics from the University of Central Florida.

Rob dedicated 36 years of his career to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where his commitment, reliability, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Brown of 49 years, children, Matthew Winston Brown (Jen), Phillip Whitton Brown (Ashley), and Amy Michelle Brown; cherished grandchildren, Devin, Savannah, Jacob, Mia, Lucy, Emma, Sarah and his niece, Mary Elizabeth Florida. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carey James Brown.

Rob was a beloved husband, father, and affectionately known as “Big Guy” to his seven precious grandchildren. In his younger years, he often recalled many happy memories serving as a lifeguard in Daytona Beach, SCUBA diving with friends, and coaching little league baseball.

A man who valued family and integrity above all else, Rob found his greatest joy in spending time with Linda, their children, and especially their grandchildren—whose lives he touched deeply with his steady love and wisdom. Rob would spend many happy nights and weekends watching his children and grandchildren play baseball, softball, soccer, and various other sports.

Rob will be remembered by his best friends of 63 years, Eric Westlund and Dr. Rex Gross, as well as the Sanchez family in Costa Rica. He also enjoyed the many friendships he made with his co-workers at TVA, his community neighbors and friends at Hixson Presbyterian Church.

In March of 2024, Rob was diagnosed with Glioblastoma brain cancer. Despite undergoing two surgeries and multiple treatments, he faced his remaining time with courage and grace—cherishing every moment with his family and striving to make each second count.

His life, love, laughter, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

The family will arrange a time to remember and honor Rob with family and friends at a date to be determined.
