City Council Has Hearing Aug. 19 On Property Tax Rate

NOTICE OF INTENT TO EXCEED
CERTIFIED TAX RATE

The City Council of the City of Chattanooga will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, during its 3:30 p.m. (local time) business meeting, on the City’s intent to exceed the certified property tax rate, as defined by T.C.A. § 67-5-1702, for properties within the City of Chattanooga. This public hearing will be held in the Assembly Room of the John P. Franklin Sr. City Council Building, 1000 Lindsay Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402. Please note that this will be a recessed business meeting.

The certified tax rate, as defined by T.C.A. § 67-5-1701, is $1.55 per $100 of assessed valuation. The City of Chattanooga’s proposed FY2026 Amended Budget, if adopted, will require a proposed tax levy of $1.99 per $100 dollars of assessed value.
