NOTICE OF INTENT TO EXCEED CERTIFIED TAX RATE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA The City Council of the City of Chattanooga will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, during its 3:30 p.m. EDT business meeting, on the City’s intent to exceed the certified property tax rate following reappraisal, as required by T.C.A. § 67-5-1702, for properties within the City of Chattanooga. The hearing stems from the intent to exceed the certified property tax rate at a different amount than the amount proposed by the Mayor based on an alternate version of the FY26 Amended Budget, which will be proposed by the City Council during the public hearing. The public hearing will be held in the Assembly Room of the John P. Franklin Sr. City Council Building, 1000 Lindsay Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402. Please note that the August 26 business meeting will be a recessed meeting. The certified tax rate, as defined by T.C.A. § 67-5-1701, is $1.55 per $100 of assessed valuation by the assessor of properties. The City Council will propose an Alternate Version of the proposed FY2026 Amended Budget that, if adopted by a majority of its members on final reading, will require a proposed tax levy of $1.69 per $100 dollars of assessed value. This 16th day of August 2025. Nicole S. Gwyn City Council Clerk
