John E. Carver, Sr., 56, of East Ridge, died on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, in a local hospital.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Carver was an active member of Woodland Park Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Awana Program. He was employed with Ross Broadway Glass Company after 21 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harlston R.L. Carver; and his brother, Ron Carver.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Carver; three sons, John Carver, Jr. of Marietta, Ga., Robert E. Carver of Soddy-Daisy, Mark Walker of Chickamauga; daughter, Katie Carver of East Ridge; mother, Viola M. Carver of East Ridge; sister, Yvonne Tocco of Rome, Ga.; grandchildren, Alissa Thomas of Bowling Green, Ky., Mackenzie Walker of Chickamauga, Austin and Josie Thomas of Bowling Green, Ky.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Woodland Park Baptist Church with Rev. John Meador, Rev. Steve McCary and Rev. Terry Don Thomason officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church from 6-7 p.m.
Burial will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Woodland Park Baptist, 7501 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12-2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd.
