Clement-Alexander Debate To Be On C-SPAN

The first debate between U.S. Senate candidates Bob Clement and Lamar Alexander in Chattanooga Monday night will be televised live on C-SPAN.

Local Democrats and Republicans have set special events to gather to watch the first Senatorial Debate that will be held at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Democrats will gather at 7 p.m. at the Choo-Choo's Theatre Center in an event sponsored by the local Democratic Party.

Lee Davis, who heads the Clement campaign in Hamilton County, said there will be big-screen TVs to watch the debate.

He said the candidate will address the group after the debate.

Robin Derryberry of the Alexander campaign said, "We will gather shortly before 7:00 to
show our support for our candidate, Lamar Alexander.

"The debate begins at 8:00 and we will watch the show together. We will have an assortment of desserts, coffee, and soft drinks for our guests."

All Victory 2002 candidates and campaigns are welcome to attend in the Choo-Choo's Crystal Room and bring some of their items to give out to the crowd, she said.
