The Udder Creamery & Caffe,’ located at 1820 Gunbarrel Road in the Gunbarrel Pointe center (where Target and Kohl’s are located) is a great place for lunch – or any meal for that matter. This is one of our favorite places for dessert, and it’s my favorite place for Chicken Salad!
I stop by there often during the lunch hour for what is some of the best Chicken Salad (Charlene’s Award Winning Homemade Chicken Salad) in town. Yep – for those of you who haven’t found out yet, the Udder Creamery serves more than just ice cream. They have developed quite a menu, which includes soups, salads, panini, wraps and pizzas.
My favorite item is the Chicken Salad. You can get it as a sandwich (with a choice of Old Fashioned White or Honey Wheat Bread with either chips or pasta salad - $.99 gets you a substitute small house salad) for $5.49. They will even fix you a half sandwich for $4.29. If you don’t want it as a sandwich, you can have it served in a waffle bowl – or on top of one of their salads – either the House or Mandarin Orange Salad ($6.99).
The Udder Creamery salads also include a Grilled Chicken Salad with a marinated grilled chicken breast atop either the House or Mandarin Orange Salad ($5.99).
In addition to the Chicken Salad sandwich, the Udder Creamery offers Gourmet Turkey, Roasted Ham, Roast Beef or a Deluxe Grilled Cheese. That Grilled Cheese sounds pretty good – Smoked Cheddar, Tomatoes and Oregano grilled on Honey Wheat!
Or what about a Grilled Panini Sandwich (Full, ½ round, $5.99; half, ¼ round, $4.99) served on Italian Focacia Bread lighted grilled with Olive Oil. Your choices are Turkey, Veggie, Ham, Roast Beef Melt and the Fajita Panini.
A new item is the Gourmet Wrap priced at $5.49 also served with the chips or pasta salad. Included in the variety of wraps are Chicken Salad, Grilled Chicken, Philly Cheesesteak and the Veggie.
The Gourmet Pizzas are the personal size and made with a gourmet cheese blend of Mozzarella, Provolone and Parmesan – priced from $3.99 to $4.99. They even have a Backyard BBQ Turkey Pizza!
I only have one suggestion regarding their lunches – it takes too long to get them. Even if you are just ordering a Chicken Salad Sandwich, it takes a little more time than you have to spare for your lunch break.
My first time there for lunch, I ordered a soup and sandwich, and I waited at least 20 minutes. When I got back to the office, the soup was still cold. After I nuked it, it was great, but I just don’t have that kind of time at lunch, so I haven’t ordered soup again.
Of course, their specialty is that great Ice Cream, as well as authentic Italian Gelato, all-fruit sorbet, and no sucrose Diabetic Ice Cream. They make it all right there at the Udder Creamery.
You can select your favorite flavor and then choose any add-in ingredients from their menu, watch them mix it up on the freezer counter and have it in a waffle cone, waffle bowl or just plain old Styrofoam.
My absolute favorite is the Peanut Butter with chopped pecans and strawberries! Wayne goes for the Sweet Cream with the chopped pecans (double pecans for Wayne, please). You will also find Old Fashioned Shakes, Sodas and Floats, Frozen Coffees, and Smoothies.
If you just want to sit back and relax with a friend over coffee, you’ll be able to do that as well. Whether it’s flavored coffees or teas, cappuccino, latte, mocha, chai latte, etc., you’ll find it all at the Udder Creamery & Caffe’.
You will find other items, but you’ll just need to go there to find out how great it is. They even offer a Children’s Menu!
The Udder Creamery & Caffe’ is open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. They are definitely worth a stop.
And remember – if you know anyone who eats out a lot we have the perfect gift for them or even for yourself. We have the Adventures coupon books with even more coupons – 86 in all. These are perfect gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and many other occasions. By using our Adventures book during 2001, Wayne and I saved over $436 that would have been spent out of our own pockets – and we didn’t even use all the coupons. To make shopping easier for you, we now have credit card capability on the Chattanooga Dine Out site. We ship the same day you order (unless it’s Sunday) so your books should be received within approximately three days.
