Wilburn Duane “Zig” Currie
Wilburn Duane “Zig” Currie, 69, of Spring City, Tn., died Friday, April 8, 2005 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Rossville, Ga., to the late Robert L. and Martha Jane Swafford Currie. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Public Service Company of New Mexico where he worked as an electrician. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spring City where he was teacher of the Koinonia Sunday School Class. He had formerly served as an Ordained Deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Valerie Ann Down Currie; son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Currie of Rock Spring, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Tony Crisp of Hixson, Tn., Robbie and Ervin Rogers of Pisgah, Ala., Roberta Darnell, Edna and Connie Little, Carolyn Fisher all of Chattanooga; brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Cheryl Currie of Chickamauga, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday morning until the service.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the J. Avery Bryan Chapel with Reverend Terry Chitwood and Charles Story officiating.
Burial will follow at Chickamauga Cemetery.
Members of the Koininia Sunday School Class will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive flowers or memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga at 58 Commons, Suite 101-4355 Highway 58, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37416.
