Dr. David C. Smith, DDS, 56, died on Monday, May 22, 2006, at his residence.
David served the Chattanooga area as a dentist for 30 years, five years at Orange Grove School and 25 years in private practice. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
His passion was for Jesus Christ. He was a deacon at Brainerd Baptist Church and later at Silverdale Baptist Church. He was on the board at Brainerd Baptist School and the Lighthouse Ministry at Silverdale Baptist. He taught Sunday school, loved to work with youth, and sing in the choir. David worked with Tres Dias and was active in missions, where he furthered the Gospel.
David was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Valerie Smith; and his brother, Jimmy Smith.
He is survived by his three children, Mason Smith, Mary Carole (Jarett) Hall and Cameron (Matt) Moreland; his grandson, Matthias Hall; his brother, Robert (Karen) Smith; his sister, Katie (Skip) Steffner; and his parents, Lyman B. and Carole Smith.
A celebration service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Silverdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Walliser officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel, 8214 East Brainerd Road.
