Buds Sports Bar Moving To New Brainerd Location

Was On Lee Highway For 28 Years

  • Monday, July 17, 2006

Buds Sports Bar is moving to 5751 Brainerd Road after 28 years on Lee Highway.

The 6,700-square-foot sports bar will replace the business’s current location on 5914 Lee Highway "due to its ongoing success and to better service its customers with a substantially larger facility, expanded menu and state-of-the-art entertainment offering," officials said.

The area’s oldest sports bar, Buds has served the local community for over 28 years, "providing a welcome meeting ground and award-winning menu to sports fans and hungry regulars alike. In an effort to continually expand customer comfort and flexibility, the new location houses wall-to-wall plasma TVs and offers a customer-friendly non-smoking room, among other amenities.

"What once began as a hopeful investment, Buds has become an area landmark known for its best-in-town Buffalo wings, cold beer and friendly service. While the Brainerd Road location plans to add nearly 30 staff members, 50 tons of air conditioning and a new kitchen chef, creator and owner Andy Dillon says his key to success will remain the same."

Buds will be going from 40 to 70 employees.

Andy Dillon said, “We’ve always believed here that service and satisfaction are our overriding priorities. The new location puts us in a position to better communicate that belief to the customers that have supported us for all these years.”

Mr. Dillon said he never knew what a success Buds would be, or that it would mean so much to the customers who gathered there. He thanks the ongoing support of his customers and has planned a special closing celebration to show his appreciation.

Local patrons are encouraged to join Buds Sports Bar for farewell festivities occurring Sunday at 5914 Lee Highway.

Then, celebrate the grand opening of Buds Sports Bar on Brainerd Road beginning Thursday, July 27.
