Chattanooga men’s and women’s cross country head coach Steve Picucci announced the 2025 slate Tuesday.
“I am looking forward to my first season in Chattanooga,” Picucci said. “We have a great schedule for the fall, challenging the teams with great competition and racing some of the best courses in the country.”
The season begins August 29 at the annual Tennessee Cross Country Invitational held at the Cherokee Farms cross country course in Knoxville. The women’s race covers three miles while the men are set for a four-mile race.
In September, the Mocs hit the road for Alabama and the Southern Showcase at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala., for a traditional women’s 5K and men’s 8-kilometer race.
“The teams are looking forward to getting to preview the championship course in Huntsville in September as we prep for the region meet in November.” Picucci said. “Our main focus will be the championship meets at the end of the season, but we are hoping to race well at the later season invitationals as well.”
October begins with a trip to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Cross Country Invite on the third where the women distance will be extended to a 6-kilometer and the men will stick with a the 8K. The Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., is slated for October 17 while the NCAA Pre-National Invitational takes place in Columbia, Mo., on October 18. This race gives runners a chance to get a feel for the NCAA National Championship course.
November starts with the Southern Conference Championships on the first in Mill Spring, N.C. That will follow with the NCAA South Region Championships on November 14 back in Huntsville, Ala. The National Championships take place November 22.
