Bradley County sheriff’s officers arrested Larry Wayne Nash after conducting a traffic stop of a white Ford Crown Victoria that had similarities to an unmarked police vehicle. Deputy Kevin Whitaker said Nash identified himself as a retired police officer from Arkansas, but he later produced a Chaplain’s badge and identification for the Paragould Arkansas Police Department where he served in 1999.
In the vehicle Deputy Whitaker found two hats with “police” written across the front, a police baton, and two scanner radios.
Nash, who is 63 years old and gave an address on Benton Pike, was charged with giving false information to a law enforcement officer, criminal impersonation, and violation of the registration law. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court Thursday morning.
Bradley County Sheriff’s detectives are asking if anyone had contact with Nash and believed he was a law enforcement officer to contact them at 728-7337.
