Boyd's Speedway is reopening under new management after being closed for several months.
The new owner, George Shaw, along with his daughter, Mandy Greene (a former Pony stock driver), are preparing the historic facility to reopen soon.
Fans and racers alike are invited to be a part of the effort on one or both of two Cleanup Days, Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31, from 8 a.m. until whenever.
All who pitch in to help on cleanup day will receive a free lunch and a free pit pass on Playday.
Playday is scheduled for Sunday, April 1, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Admission will be free in the grandstands on Playday, and pit passes for Playday will be $10 per person.
The season opener is scheduled for Friday, April 13, with hot laps beginning around 6:30 p.m. and heat races around 7 p.m., track conditions permitting. All dates and times are tentative at this point.
Boyd’s Speedway has adopted the 2007 Cleveland Speedway Rules for all classes.
For rules go to www.clevelandspeedway.com or visit Cleveland Speedway on any Saturday and pick up a rule book for only $2.
Classes at Boyd’s will be Limited Late Model, A Hobby, B Hobby (formerly Street Stock), Pony Stock and Front Runner.
Mr. Shaw said he is committed to returning the track and the program to its former glory, worthy of “The Name That Wouldn’t Die,” Boyd’s Speedway.
