Adams Says Channel 3 Report On Hullander Residency Was "Bonehead"

  • Wednesday, October 15, 2008

County Commissioner Curtis Adams said a Channel 3 report on whether or not Commissioner Bill Hullander lived in his district was "bonehead and unprofessional."

Commissioner Adams said, "If the news editor who sends out the young girls had anything on the ball he would have known that Commissioner Hullander has lived in the same house in his district for 62 years.

"Instead, he sent her out to some of his rental houses."

Commissioner Adams said some who saw the TV report "are going to be left with the impression that Commissioner Hullander did something wrong."

Commissioner Hullander, who said he has lived at the family's Apison farm since he was 30 days old, said a Channel 3 crew came to his door.

He said he was surprised when he was told what the story was about.

He said, "I asked them, 'You mean you've been out to my rental houses?' It kind of aggravated me."

Commissioner Adams said he sent a letter about the report to David Carroll of Channel 3.

The letter says:

"Dear David,

"Tell the person at your television station that sent the young reporter out to check if Commissioner Hullander was living in his district that he is an unprofessional, unethical bonehead.

"Bill Hullander, and everyone knows this, has lived in Apison all his life. When the reporter (bonehead) could see that Hullander owns 17 houses, a professional news person would immediately know he couldn't possibly live in all 17 houses! Why didn't the bonehead amateur just send her to his address that he has owned and lived for five decades!

"David, very poor judgment and unprofessional reporting."
