Held Long Career At DuPont As Instrument Technician

Danny Lee Cox, 78, of Soddy Daisy, died on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at his home after an extended illness.

Danny retired from DuPont as an instrument technician after 37 1/2 years of service.

After retirement, he served the families of the area with the utmost care and compassion on the staff of Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, and calling square dance. In his spare time, Danny enjoyed wood working, playing ball, bowling and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Bertha Cox and brother, George Cox.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Ruth Cox; sons, Anthony Cox, Ray (Suzanne) Robertson, David Leon Cox and Charles (Darlene) Robertson; daughters, Pat (Doug) Holcomb, Danelle (Cliff) Ables, Gerrye (Carlton) King and Karen (Tim) Case; brother, Houston Cox; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruth Cox would like to say a special thanks to their children for their support during this time of illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, at New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Rogers and Rev. Ted Painter officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Sheets officiating the interment service.

The Cox family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the funeral home and on Sunday one hour prior to the funeral service at New Salem Baptist Church.
