Rock Bluff Stables will host a horsemanship clinic May 1-2 with trainer and clinician Spencer Dominick.

Mr. Dominick is an accomplished and enthusiastic horseman. His partnership with horses began at the age of three. Within a few years, he was helping with the riding program at the 7D Ranch, a family operation run in Sunlight Basin, Wy. At this young age, he was riding to assist in managing range cattle, retrieving horses from pasture leased from Forest Service, and leading guest rides.

Mr. Dominick spent 13 years wrangling for the 7D, Castle Rock Ranch, and Shoshone Lodge. In 1988, he joined the packtrip crew at the 7D as a packer and cook. He began spending his summers on trips in Shoshone National Forest and Yellowstone National Park.

In 1991, he took over the management of the packtrip program for the 7D, a position that combined his horsemanship skills and his talent of working with people to improve their own level of comfort and ability.

Mr. Dominick’s professional horse training career started in the winter of 1999. He specializes in starting horses and mules as well as helping with problems in older horses. His training techniques are based on kindness, consistency and building trust with each horse. In addition, Mr. Dominick enjoys working with people and helping them to achieve a harmonious relationship with their horse through teaching communication, understanding and proper riding.

He teaches private lessons as well as several clinics each year in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and Georgia. Also, he is a teaching clinician for the Montana Horse Sanctuary and in February he was an instructor and demonstration rider in the Holistic Health Clinic at Eagle Mount in Bozeman, Mt.

Georgianna Pollock who has hosted the clinic at Rock Bluff Stables for the past two years says, “Spencer is one of the most talented trainers and horseman I have worked with. It’s really exciting to see the results he gets from both riders and horses.”

For more information about participation in the two day intensive workshop call Rock Bluff Stables at 706 398-7091. Auditors (spectators) are welcome for a fee of $25 per day.

Rock Bluff Stables is located atop Lookout Mountain just north of the intersection of Highway 136 and Highway 157.
