IHOP eggs
By now everyone knows how I prefer to have my scrambled eggs prepared. For the last year or so I’ve been ordering sunny side up since it seems almost impossible to find any restaurant chef or cook who knows the meaning of soft scrambled. Sometimes I think they take it to mean to softly touch – like not at all!
Most of them seem to dump the eggs on the griddle, let it cook, chop, toss and put it on the plate. This makes it more fried scrambled.
Recently we were headed to an early basketball game and stopped at the IHOP (5707 Brainerd Road) for breakfast. I decided to go out on a limb and order the scrambled eggs – my way. I’ve decided, when it comes to eggs, there is no “my” way – it is only “their” way!
The hash browns (IHOP does not serve grits) and bacon were good, but the eggs were a disaster! Why is it so difficult? I HAD to take a picture because they were so hard – a really far extreme from what I ordered. I couldn’t eat one bite.
IHOP has enough menu items that I feel certain almost anyone could find something to order. No matter what the time of day, you can order breakfast – I like being able to eat breakfast in the evening – but I will never order scrambled eggs there again.
I enjoy the hot syrup and the friendly servers, the coffee pots at the table, and the flavored variety of syrups.
IHOP is a good place to stop for pancakes and the many other menu items from breakfast to steaks. It makes me think of the term “diner”. They are even open 24 hours. Right now they are having a special all-you-can-eat-pancakes. I may be wrong, but I believe the price was $4.99, served in plates of three. The table across from us was certainly making good on the all-you-can-eat because we lost count of how many plates were served to four people!
Why not check out IHOP, but pass on the soft serve eggs ‘cause that “ain’t” happening!
