Renovations On Community Theatre Underway Inside Soldiers And Sailors Memorial Auditorium

  • Tuesday, September 25, 2012

The City of Chattanooga Department of Education, Arts & Culture (EAC) announced renovations are underway and on schedule inside the Community Theatre at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium. This is part of an eight month renovation project to bring the facility into ADA compliance—with a target completion and grand re-opening date for February 2013.

Renovations will include a public elevator, handicap lift, and ADA restrooms, new seats, paint audience chamber, carpet. With the Community Theatre meeting ADA compliance, the facility will once again be available for rental. City officials project an initial $25,000 in additional revenue for the first quarter after reopening.

EAC Administrator Missy Crutchfield said, “We know that having the Community Theatre re-opened will offer an affordable, accessible, mid-sized theatre space which is reported in Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga’s Imagine 20/20 cultural plan this is something that is much needed in our community.”
