U.S. Senate Candidate Crim Making The Rounds Of County Fairs

  • Thursday, September 19, 2013
If you're attending a county fair, festival or football game anywhere in Tennessee you could just run into a United States Senate candidate. His name is Larry Crim, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate. The theme of Crim's campaign is "For all Tennesseans." Mr. Crim and crew are traveling Tennessee reaching out to folks on a grass roots level. Crim, a fifth generation Tennessean and executive chairman of Christian Counseling Centers of America, says “Tennesseans are telling me that Washington is out of touch so I believe the answer is reaching out and making a connection with my fellow Tennesseans”. To serve as a U.S. Senator for Tennessee he said he believes that he needs “to meet people where they live, learn of their concerns and develop solutions after talking to and consulting with Tennesseans.”

Larry Crim filed as a U.S. Senate candidate in February without a lot of fanfare. Since then he's been making a lot of county fairs seeking out fans in Tennessee. He said he is conducting a grassroots campaign to “give Tennesseans a voice” an approach he says he will “continue in the campaign and in the U.S. Senate.”

Mr. Crim said he believes that “accessibility and availability” is part of being a public servant. The website and social media of Mr. Crim show him meeting folks and speaking at public events.

Larry Crim for U.S. Senate has proposed a number of bills to file if he is elected. These include a “Social Security Protection Act” (SSPA) to “protect the social security benefits which Tennesseans have paid for all their lives and prevent their money in social security from being borrowed against or their accrued benefits from being cut” said Crim. Mr. Crim also proposes a “Veterans Benefit Assurance Act (VBAA)” which he says is needed to “deliver on our nation's promises to our American veterans.” Another key bill Mr. Crim seeks is a “Federal Highway and Infrastructure Repair and Jobs Act” to get the nation's roads up to date with traffic demands, which Crim estimates “will create about 5 million new good paying jobs for Americans including thousands of new jobs for Tennesseans.”

Mr. Crim is a fifth-generation Tennessean born in Nashville, a product of public education, who said he supports providing a quality public education for all Tennesseans. A graduate of Lockeland Elementary School in Nashville, East Nashville Junior High and East Nashville High School, he holds a bachelor of arts in arts & sciences from The University of Tennessee with a major in psychology and minor in political science. Mr. Crim earned the master of public administration (MPA) from The University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University. He holds a master of arts (MA) from Middle Tennessee State University with a major in psychology. Mr. Crim performed his Psychological Practicum at Vanderbilt InterUniversity Psychological and Counseling Center.

Christian Counseling Centers of America, Inc. is a faith-based initiative delivering affordable, professionally qualified and spiritually-based counseling through churches and free disaster relief intervention. Larry Crim is chairman of Centrist Democratic Leadership Council (CDLC), president of Democrats for Equal Educational Opportunity and chairman of Democrats United for Tennessee - a grass roots organization dedicated to “Making a Connection by Moving in a Tennessee Direction.”
