Warren Thatcher Card, 83, of Soddy Daisy, died on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at his home.
He was born on December 19, 1930, to the late William J. Card and Louise Thatcher Card. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, John C. and Lottie Thatcher, James S. and Mena F. Card and a brother, William S. “Bill” Card.
Warren was a 1948 graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and served in the United States Army. He owned and operated Card Paving Company in Soddy Daisy until his death. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Shirlyn Blevins Card, and their children, Kimberly (Randy) Noorbergen, Warren Thatcher Card, Jr., Patti Cagle, Malanie McCarty, Greg (Linda) Stinson and Scarlette (Allen) Walker; grandchildren, Jacob and Josh Noorbergen, Dustin Card, Trevor Card, Alexis Stoker Card, Spencer (Tara) Cagle, Summer Cagle, Brandie Golden, Coy Hollis, Essynce Walker and several great-grandchildren and a sister, Patsy (Noel) Irwin.
Warren will be remembered for his work ethic, his generosity, uplifting spirit and compassionate nature to others which were beyond all measure.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Reverend Kenneth Scoggins and Billy R. Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Varner Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be all previous and present employees of Card Paving Company.
